They were carrying placards and chanting slogans against PPP-led Sindh government for curtailing Rangers powers, which, they said could make Karachi operation less effective.

The road leading to Governor House from Arts Council was blocked with containers and deployment of law enforcement personnel. Water cannons were also called in by the authorities to prevent protesters from heading towards the CM House and Governor House.

Traders leader Atiq Mir said they would support Governor Rule if Sindh government doesn’t give Rangers due powers.

Traders had announced to lay siege to the Sindh Assembly against its decision to clip Rangers powers.

SP Saddar said traders could not be allowed to proceed further as the protest area falls under the red zone and section 144 was imposed in all such zones.

Following is the resolution that was denounced by civil society, analysts and traders.
