Karachi: Rangers to be put on stand-by during Muharram

KARACHI: Sindh Home Department has prepared the code of conduct for security of Muharram-ul-Haram across the province, ARY News reported.

A meeting was held in this regard with all religious scholars, Rangers personnel, government high-ups and Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo in attendance.

It was decided that additional contingent of police and Rangers would be deployed during Muharram in the city. The AGP said Pakistan Army would be put on a stand by for any emergency situation. A complete ban will be imposed on carrying any kind of weapon, including a licensed one, during Muharram.

The meeting also agreed that some scholars would be barred from movement on district and provincial level. Use of loud speakers during the holy month will also be banned.
