KARACHI: Karachi received its first rainfall of the winter season on Friday afternoon, ARY News reported.
The sky was overcast in the morning which soon followed by showers.
Showers were reported Shahrah-e-Faisal, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, Malir, North Karachi and many other areas of the metropolis.
However, traffic jams were reported from different parts of the city. Rainwater submerged the roads whereas power breakdowns also took place in the city.
Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar has called an emergency meeting to deal with the problems due to the rainfall. He instructed the muncipal and rescue services personnel and other departments of the city district government to deal with the rain-related problems on emergency basis.
Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted intermittent showers in the provincial capital for the next 24 hours.
