Karachi: Two killed in late-night crime spree

KARACHI: At least two people were killed in separate firing incidents across the metropolis late on Monday night, ARY News reported.

According to rescue sources, a man was gunned down near Eidgah KMC workshop. His identity could not be ascertained as yet.

In another firing incident, unidentified armed men shot dead a person near Golimar area. His body was moved to nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.

 Meanwhile, two people also sustained injuries in firing incidents in Garden area and Lyari.

Seucirty has been beefed up across the city in view of Muharram processions. The Sindh chief minister ordered the law-enforcement agencies to ensure foolproof security on Tuesday and Wednesday – the 9th and 10th of Muharram.

“We have been holding regular meetings on the security of Muharram and have personally visited the route of main procession,” said Murad Ali Shah.

The IGP told the CM during a meeting that on the 9th of Muharram, there would be 528 majalis in Karachi. Similarly on the 10th of Muharram, there would be 403 majalis. There would be 279 and 289 processions on the 9th and the 10th of Muharram in Karachi respectively.
