Key ECP posts lying vacant

ISLAMABAD: After the position of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), the office of Secretary of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is lying vacant as not a single name has been suggested as yet, ARY News reports.

It should be noted that Ishtiak Ahmed Khan has completed his tenure as Secretary ECP. However, no names have been recommended for the position as of yet by the establishment division.

Ahmad’s tenure has already been extended twice.

The tenures of Chief Election Commissioner of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab are also about to end.

It should be noted that Supreme Court of Pakistan has already ordered the federal government to appoint a new CEC.

Former CEC Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim resigned from the post after allegations of rigging during 2013 general elections.
