KMC names roads after Sabeen Mehmood, Perveen Rehman

KARACHI: In recognition to their sacrifices, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has named roads after two late social activists, Sabeen Mehmood and Perveen Rehman.

Administrator KMC has approved to assign the name of Sabeen Mehmud to the road near Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (between roads 8000 and 10, 000 from road 3000 to 5000) in Korangi.

While, the road along Ibne-e-Qasim (from Shahrah-e-Firdousi to Marine Promenade) in Clifton has been named as ‘Perveen Rehman Road’, another road in Lyari Town from Atmaram Pritamdas Road to Tannery Road has been named after late Sultan Mahmood Qazi, a Pakistan People’s Party stalwart.

Director general technical services has issued a notice in this regard which has confirmed the report.


Director The Second Floor (T2F) Sabeen Mehmud was shot dead on April 25 in Karachi. Director of the Orangi Pilot Project Research and Training Institute Perveen was slain, for providing benefit to the impoverished people who belonged to Orangi, in March 2013.
