LAHORE: Three people were killed when a factory roof collapsed after an explosion in Lahore on Saturday morning, ARY News reported.

A cylinder exploded in the production unit of a bakery in Chohang area of Lahore, due to which the roof came crashing down.

Three people identified as Waqar, Khizar Hayat and Safdar were killed under the roof debris whereas another two persons were injured in the incident.

It was said that two deceased Hayat and Safdar were brothers and were natives of Sahiwal district.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene after the incident and shifted the wounded persons to a hospital for medical attendance. Three dead bodies were also transferred to hospital for postmortem.

Member of Punjab Assembly Saif-ul-Malook Khokhar reached to the scene to supervise the relief work.

He said that the provincial government will announce compensation for the deceased and injured persons.
