Lahore schools to extend winter vacations; Bannu schools open

LAHORE/PESHAWAR: Schools in Lahore may extend their vacations for a week due to the incompletion of proposed security arrangements, ARY News reported.

Despite clear orders from Punjab government, around 80 percent of schools are without proper security arrangements due to the non transfer of funds.

Fears are that the schools will extend winter vacations till January 18, 2015.

The proposed security arrangements included raising boundary walls, installing security cameras, walkthrough gates and barbed wires around schools.

BANNU schools open

On the other hand, some private schools in KPK province’s Bannu city have opened defying government orders.

The Announcement

A.D.O Private Schools Association maintained that private schools, colleges and universities will remain closed till January 11, 2014 as per government orders. Schools disobeying the order shall face strict legal action and cancellation of registration.

The decision on extension of winter vacations will be taken in a high level meeting on January 10, 2015.

Sources say that the vacations can be extended till January 31st.
