Law and order situation has improved in country, says PM Nawaz

PM Sharif made the statement while chairing a meeting to review the country’s internal security and implementation of the National Action Plan.

He added that Pakistan, being on the front line, remained a target of terrorism compared to other countries. He added that the country has affected socially and economically due to the terrorism.

The prime minister went on to say that the terrorists have been defeated due to the strong spirit of the nation and the law enforcement agencies. He went on to say that the federal government will support all the provinces regarding intelligence sharing.

Sharif expressed his satisfaction over the progress of the Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

In June 2014, the Pakistan Armed Forces launched a military offensive against terrorists and militants in the tribal region codenamed “Operation Zarb-e-Azb”. This was a renewed effort against militants in the wake of the attack on the Karachi airport on June 08.

Thousands of soldiers are part of the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb to flush out local and foreign militants hiding in the North Waziristan tribal region. This has strongly improved security situation across the country and received widespread support from the people.

Several soldiers have been martyred in the fighting but their sacrifices helped bring peace to the area.
