Lawyers demand cancellation of Asma Jahangir’s license for representing MQM

LAHORE: Lawyers on Tuesday protested against former Supreme Court Bar Association President Asma Jahangir for representing Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain in a case pertaining to media blackout against him.

They demanded suspension of license of Ms Jahangir for contesting case of the MQM.

The lawyers staged a protest, organised by Advocate Aftab Virk and others member of the lawyers fraternity, in the premises of Lahore High Court today.

They said the MQM was involved in the killing of lawyers back in 2007in Karachi during march for restoration of judiciary.

The LHC, earlier this month, had ordered media blackout on Altaf Hussain, by directing Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) and the Press Council of Pakistan (PCP) to ensure no news related to MQM chief gets space in the media.
