LB elections to be held in KP in March next year: Secy ECP

ISLAMABAD: The Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan has said that it is not possible to hold local body (LB) elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) this year, rather the polls will be held in March 2015, ARY News reported.

Talking to media after the ECP meeting, Ishtiaq Ahmed told that the meeting reviewed the conduct of LB elections in KP as per the directives of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.

He quoted the Printing Corporation of Pakistan as saying that the purchase of paper for the ballots could take as much as three months.

The Secretary ECP said that LB elections will be conducted on previous delimitations.

“Polling will be held under the bio-metric system in tehsil Ghazi, while in other parts of the province it will be held through ballots”, said Ishtiaq Ahmed.

Moreover, he said that LB elections in KP will be held at the end of March, 2015.
