KARACHI: Law enforcement personnel apprehended dozens of suspected criminals in targeted raids across Karachi, ARY New reported on Tuesday.
According to details, 40 suspects including five accused were arrested in Manghopir area. Police said that drugs and weapons were seized during the police raid.
Police and Rangers carried out a joint search operation in Niazi Colony and Shadman Town and nabbed 14 suspects in the raids.
Meanwhile, 18 people were rounded up in a crackdown in Nusrat Bhutto Colony.
Five others were arrested in raids in Haji Mureed Goth and Firdous Colony areas of Karachi.
Sindh Government in September 2013 had decided to launch targeted operation in Karachi against criminals involved in targeted killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, terrorism and other heinous crimes.
The Rangers led operation curbed crimes to a larger extent and created semblance of law and order in the city. However, some political parties have expressed their reservations against the operation with the claims that the operation has been focused against their activists.
