LEAs arrest two suspects in Lyari raids

KARACHI: The law enforcement agencies arrested two suspects in separate raids in Lyari area of Karachi, ARY News reported on Monday.

According to sources, the law enforcement personnel in a raid in Baghdadi locality arrested Yaseen alias Pappu-an alleged commander of an outlawed group.

The accused said to be involved in various attacks in the area. One of his accomplices Mohammad Ali alias Mama was killed in an encounter with Preedy police, official sources said.

Moreover, FIA officials conducted a raid at an Internet cafe in Baghdadi and arrested a suspect Bilal. The accused was involved in fake passport and visa crimes, sources said.

The law enforcement agencies have stepped up targeted raids in Lyari and had demolished scores of criminal dens in the area on last Saturday.

Police had conducted raids in Baghdadi, Chakiwara, Miran Naka, Singu Lane, Phoolpati Lane, Shahbaig Lane and Ali Mohammad Mohalla of Lyari and demolished and burnt the criminal dens.

It is pertinent to mention that the Rangers have announced the arrest of Uzair Baloch, the chief of the defunct People’s Aman Committee (PAC), a conglomerate of various gangs based in Lyari, which remain involved in various criminal activities including killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crimes.
