LEAs detain 70 suspects in Islamabad security crackdown

ISLAMABAD: The law enforcement agencies in search operations around Islamabad airport and other parts of the federal capital detained 70 suspects, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The Rangers, Police and other law enforcement agencies personnel launched search operations in the areas adjacent to Benazir International Airport and Golra and detained 70 suspected persons including 20 Afghan nationals.

The law enforcers recovered illegal arms including sub-machine guns (SMGs), rifle, 9mm pistol and hundreds rounds from the possession of arrested men.

Seven stolen motorbikes were also recovered in search raids.

Federal capital authorities have stepped up security in Islamabad and adjoining areas on the occasion of Eidul Azha due to security concerns.
