LG polls: Campaigning in Punjab peaceful than other provinces, states FAFEN

LAHORE: Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its report stated that campaigning for the local government elections in Punjab remained peaceful as compared to the other provinces, ARY News reports.

FAFEN officials released its report on the first phase of local bodies elections in a press conference here on Sunday. The organization that electioneering in Punjab was much peaceful as compared to the rest of the provinces in the country however the code of conduct was also violated during the polling day.

The report stated that candidates, political figures, security officials and influential persons were seen making the voters vote for their party in Punjab’s districts of Bahawalnagar, Gujrat, Kasur, Lahore and Lodhran.

It was also mentioned that FAFEN officials were stopped from observing the counting process in 12 districts of Punjab.

“Government machinery and resources along with developmental projects and funds were also utilized to influence the voters.
