The LHC bench headed by Justice Ayesha A. Malik heard the arguments on a petition filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and announced the verdict.

Following the court orders, parliamentarians can now participate in the election campaigns ahead of the by-polls.

PTI, in its petition, submitted that the ECP notification was in sheer violation of fundamental rights.

Petitioner, who is PTI MPA Shoaib Siddique, argued that PTI chairman Imran Khan was a member of the National Assembly and could not visit the area of any political constituency, where the by-elections were being held.

The ECP On September 16 had barred all parliamentarians from visiting and taking part in by-election campaigns in NA-122 Lahore and NA-154 Lodhran, where tough competition is expected between the PTI and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Meanwhile, PTI chairman Imran Khan has announced to take part in by-election campaign of NA-122.
