Justice Mehmood Maqbool Bajwa reserved his verdict after hearing the argument of the counsels of both sides. In his arguments before the court, Customs Prosecutor stated that in a bid to illegally taking the currency amounts to 50 million overseas, a fine of 500 million can also be imposed. Ayyan Ali is a renowned Pakistani model has worked for brands such as Ufone and Sunsilk. On March 14, 2015 Ayyan was arrested at Benazir International Airport by Airport Security Force officials for carrying $506,800 when she was about to board a flight bound for Dubai.
The model was sent on a 14 day judicial remand to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi by a Customs judge. Following a hearing on March 28, Ayyan’s father was shot in the arm by an unidentified person outside a Rawalpindi court. Upon being stable, Ayyan’s father Raja Hafeez disclosed that he had nominated former Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s brother Khalid Malik for being involved in his shooting.
