LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday restrained Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan from chairing meetings of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).
LHC Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah heard a petition maintaining that Nadra was an independent institution and would not allow anyone to interfere in its proceedings.
The court also barred authority board members Tariq Mahmood Khan and Tariq Akbar Khan from working till further notice. The court was informed that Chaudhry Nisar regularly chairs meetings and influences the authority.
Justice Shah remarked that court would not let anyone undermine the independence of institutions, and issued a stay order barring the federal minister till further notice.
