Magnitude 6.1 intensity earthquake jolts Pakistan, Afghanistan

The epicentre of the the earthquake was reported at Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, media reports said. The Meteorological department confirmed the epicentre of the quake to be near the Afghan-Tajikistan border and was measured to be at a depth of 200 kilometres.

The tremors continued upto 30 seconds, were felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Mianwali, Sargodah and several other cities and towns in northern parts of Pakistan.

Initial reports have not revealed any injuries thus far, however, the quake spread panic among people and they rushed out of their homes. No loss of life or property has been reported.

The earthquake tremors felt as far as Indian capital New Delhi.

Earlier this year, the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal leaving a trail of devastation in Bihar, West Bengal and several other states in India.
