Majors Faisal and Altamash initially survived the crash & rescued passengers: eyewitness account on Twitter

KARACHI: According to a post on Twitter on May 9, the two pilots of the Mi-17 helicopter which crashed in Naltar on May 8, Majors Faisal and Altamash initially survived the crash and in fact rescued several of the passengers before being killed.

It further states that the two pilots were killed when an explosion took place after a fuel leakage in the damaged helicopter.

Seven people including Norwegian ambassador Leif H. Larsen, Philippines ambassador Domingo D. Lucenario Jr, wives of Indonesian and Malaysian ambassadors Heri Listyawati Burhan Muhammad and Datin Habibah Mahmud, the two pilots Shaheed Major Altamash and Shaheed Major Faisal and technician Zakir were killed when a Mi-17 helicopter of Pakistan Army crashed in Gilgit’s Naltar area.
