Massive shuffle expected in new Sindh cabinet

All eyes are on who will receive the most lucrative ministries in the cabinet of Chief Minister-designate Murad Ali Shah who is expected to be elected on Friday and finalise his cabinet in a few days.

According to sources, Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani and Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza are expected to quit these coveted positions and received ministries. They are likely to be replaced with Sikander Ali Mandhro and Erum Khalid respectively.

Agha Siraj Durrani and Nisar Khuhro have emerged as the strongest contenders for the coveted post of Interior Minister,  which was previously held by Sohail Anwar Siyal.

Previous senior Education Minister Nisar Khuhro is also tipped to be the Minister for Finance, which was earlier held by Chief Minister-designate Murad Ali Shah. Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza is widely tipped to be the next Minister for Education.

Sources also revealed that Manzoor Wassan, Nadir Magsi and Nasir Shah are also likely to part of the new cabinet of Sindh.

Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal, Advisor to Chief Minister Sharmila Farooqui, and Minister for Local Government Jam Khan Shoro are likely to lose their posts and will not be part of the new cabinet.

It is also known that at least three women are expected to be part of the provincial cabinet. Also newly-elected parliamentarian Zia-ul-Anjar and Rubina Qaimkhani are expected to receive ministries, where Sardar Shah, Fayyaz Butt, Asghar Junejo, and Pir Mujeeb son of former minister Pir Mazhar will also be part of the cabinet.

The final decision will be made by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Saturday, after which the new cabinet will be finally revealed.
