KARACHI: Following protest of Federal Urdu University of Arts Science and Technology (FUUAST) on University Road subsequent to recent deaths of university students, Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhter on Friday announced to reserve two buses to facilitate the varsity students, ARY News reported.
Students of FUUAST university today blocked the road and demanded from the government to resolve issues facing the students at earliest. They presented 10-point demand before the government for resolution.
The mayor Karachi met with the protesting university students on University Road and assured them to resolve their issues at earliest including provision of two buses and early construction of the road.

Sindh Minister for Transport Nasir Shah also reached the site of protest and admitted his negligence in the matters of transport issues. He also assured the youth to resolve their issues at earliest.
The transport minister announced Rs0.5 million as compensation for the each deceased.
It should be noted that at least four people, including three university girls, were killed and 11 injured when a ‘speeding’ bus ran over people standing at a bus stop along an under-construction University Road on Thursday.
The incident occurred near Baitul Mukarram mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, where people were awaiting at the bus stop when speeding public transport bus, bearing registration number PE-4042, ran over them.
Separately, a student, Ghulamullah Khan, 16-year old boy, was killed after a passenger coach ran over him at Karachi’s Patel Para area on Friday (today).
Police stated that the coach has been taken into custody. The bus driver Yasir managed to escape following the incident while conductor Ghulam Murtaza is under custody.
“The student had boarded the bus from Lasbela. He fell from it after the driver hit the brakes and came under its wheels,” police said.
In another incident, a case has been registered at Airport police station against a bus driver found recklessly driving on Shahrae Faisal today.
During the last ten days, five female and one male students and a bus conductor have been killed in road mishaps.
Waseem Akhtar held the Sindh government responsible for the road accidents and demanded from the prime minister to immediately provide 100 buses to the megapolis to cater to the need of the huge population.
