Merchant appears before London court in money laundering case

The West London Magistrates Court had summoned Altaf Hussain, Tariq Mir, Iftikhar Qureshi and Sarfaraz Merchant for the hearing.

During the hearing, the Scotland Yard requested the court to conduct hearing in a closed-door hall citing nature of the case.

Following which, people sitting in the public gallery were asked to leave.

However, only Merchant along with his lawyers appeared before the court and recorded his statement, while the other three excused from appearing seeking more time from the court.

Officials of the Scotland Yard told the judge that this is a complicated case and requires some more time.

At which, the court adjourned the hearing.
