Karachi, other parts of Sindh to receive rains, says Met Office

The new weather system is expected to enter Sindh today and will gain strength on Wednesday, the met office said predicting heavy rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday.

Rain with thunder or windstorm with isolated heavy falls is expected at a number of places in lower Sindh (Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions).

According to the weather department light to moderate intensity rain with dust or thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Karachi, Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions in Sindh. Isolated heavy falls are expected at a number of places in Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions within 48 hours.

Heavy downpour may generate urban and flash flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas, weather advisory warned.

According to PMD the monsoon weather system will be stronger this year and will affect both Sindh in and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces and may cause flooding in Karachi, Hyderabad as well as other parts of Sindh and flash flooding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sindh health department has directed the top officials of the government hospitals in the province and the district health officers to prepared to meet any emergency situation during the rainfall.

The government has set up rain emergency control room. Dr. Syed Zafar Mehdi, the province’s Focal Person on rain emergency has said that all arrangements have been made to meet emergency situation during possible rainfall in the province.
