The Indian Meteorological Department also estimated the earthquake to be of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale. The depth of the quake has been estimated at 10 km.
Nepal was also struck by a 5.4 earthquake on November 28. However, the worst earthquake occured on 25 April, 2015 when a severe 7.8 magnitude struck the Gorkha district.
Nearly 9,000 people were killed and 22,000 were injured the worst natural disaster since 1934. It also triggered an avalance on Mount Everest which killed 21 people making it the deadliest day on the mountain.
