Millions converge in Makkah as Hajj rituals begin today

MAKKAH: As many as two million Muslims have been converging on the holy city of Makkah as Hajj rituals begin today in the tent city of Mina in Saudi Arabia, ARY News reported.

The week of Hajj occurs during the last month of the Islamic calendar and requires pilgrims to perform ten services or rituals before and during Hajj.

Governor Makkah Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah said all preparations were completed for Hajj.

Saudi Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Prince Mansour bin Miteb said the newly expanded Jamrat bridge in Mina would help pilgrims perform the “Satan-stoning” ritual easily without risk of being stampeded.
