Bad captaincy reason for team’s poor show: minister

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Pirzada has said that bad captaincy is the main reason for the national cricket team’s dismal performance, ARY News reported.

He made the statement while speaking in the National Assembly session on Friday.

The federal minister recommended the name of former cricketer Majid Khan for the position of Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“Bowling is performing but the batting department has completely failed,” Pirzada said.

“There are changes being made in the cricket board. I hope the situation will improve,” he added.

Pirzada recommended the name of Majid Khan for the position of PCB Chairman.

It should be named that Shahid Afridi stepped down as skipper of Pakistan’s Twenty20 side following the team’s poor performance in the World T20 in India this year and Sarfraz Ahmed was named his successor.

Pakistan had only managed to beat Bangladesh in the tournament and were knocked out following losses to arch-rivals India, New Zealand and Australia.
