Minorities in India being treated with hatred, discrimination: US commission

WASHINGTON: United States Commission on International Religious Freedom stated that Muslims and other religious minorities in India are subjected to hatred and discrimination, ARY News reported.

The commission stated in its report that several nationalist groups including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) torture and harass Muslims and people from other minority groups.

The report also mentioned that Muslims, Sikhs and Christians in India are subjected to torture. It also mentioned that they are socially isolated and are being forced to convert.

It also stated that the mistreatment of Muslims and other minorities in India is a routine in the governments of Indian National Congress and BJP.

The commission has urged the U.S. government to ensure religious freedom and human rights in its diplomatic and economic ties with India.
