Misbah should remain captain until WC2015: Iqbal Qasim

KARACHI: Former Chief selector of Pakistan, Iqbal Qasim refused the idea of replacing the captain of national cricket team by saying that “there isn’t any reason of changing captain before World Cup 2015”, ARY News reported.

Speaking to media in Karachi today, Iqbal Qasim said that removing Misbah-ul-Haq from captaincy because of defeat in Sri Lanka wouldn’t be wise.

“ Players should work on crisis management to get out of difficult situation”, he added.

Misbah has been ODI captain since May 2011. And PCB persisted with Misbah as captain despite Pakistan being whitewashed 3-0 in South Africa in 2012-13, and performing poorly in the 2013 Champions Trophy in England.

Pakistan’s recent loss against Sri Lanka (Test series 2-0, ODIs 2-1) prompted several concerns for the board ahead of the 2015 World Cup including captaincy swap.

Talking about Saeed Ajmal, the former chief selector said no comments can be made till the issuance of his bowling action report. He said hopes are high that Ajmal’s bowling action will be cleared by ICC, if don’t, then Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will offer full support to him.
