Austin Swanger, tournament coordinator at The Club at Savannah Harbor, posted a video to Facebook showing the large alligator dubbed Chester wandering around the golf cart path behind the 1st hole green.
Swanger said he wanted to show off the course’s resident reptile in response to viral footage of an enormous gator wandering around the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto, Fla.
“Since everyone seems to be fascinated with the big gator in Florida that has gone viral, I present to you our big boy here in Savannah!” he wrote.
Swanger said the alligator can most often be seen between holes 2 and 11, but he occasionally wanders out to other parts of the course.
Course manager Ken Powell said he’s received phone calls from news stations in Scotland, Japan and Australia asking about the gator, which makes occasional appearances at the course. Golfers from around the country have also called looking to play the course after seeing the gator.
Powell said the gator hasn’t harmed any humans and there aren’t plans to have it removed from the course.
