The film is based during the Indus Valley Civilization in modern day Pakistan which is one of the oldest cities in the world dating 2500 B.C.
It shows the protagonist who falls in love with his enemy’s daughter who is a dancer. The role is played by newcomer Pooja Hedge who competed in Miss Indian contest in 2009. The film is centered around romance through the cultures and ancient civilization of Mohenjo Daro.
Roshan has previously stated that it would likely be the best film of his life.
‘For Mohenjodaro, I am travelling back in time. It has been a great journey, great experience. I really believe it is going to be one of my best films. I hope and pray that the audience also agrees with it when the film releases,’ he said.
The ambitious film is directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, who is best known opulent films such as Lagaan, Swades, and Jodhaa Akbar.
Gowariker has said that it has taken him nearly three year to make the film as he likes to research as much as possible and sought help from archaeologists who documented the discovery of Indus Valley civilisation.
The soundtrack album and film score are composed by A. R. Rahman and song lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 12 August 2016.
