According to details, the violence erupted when MQM activists and Haqiqi workers came face to face during a rally organised by MQM in Karachi’s Lines Area. Heated slogans soon turned into violent confrontation, as loyalists of both parties battered each other with sticks and pelted stones at one another. Armed assailants attempted to set MQM’s office on fire and also fired into the air, which caused three people to be injured.

MQM’s Dr. Farooq Sattar, who was leading the rally, said that Haqiqi’s terrorists had attacked their peaceful rally and that Rangers as well as police should take notice of the situation. Owing to the tense situation, police have been deployed outside of MQM’s offices.

A couple of days ago, MQM workers had also clashed with PTI workers at the Five-Star Chowrangi area. PTI chairman Imran Khan had criticised the MQM and blamed them for being responsible for the attack.
