MQM chief surrenders party powers to Raabita Committee

LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief has handed his powers to the party’s Coordination Committee after the party’s Karachi based leadership announced to severe ties with him, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

In a statement, MQM chief on Wednesday stated that he respects the sentiments of Dr. Farooq Sattar and other party leaders in the press conference on Tuesday. “As founder of MQM, I hand over all powers regarding policies and decision making to them,” he stated.

“I pray to Almighty Allah to grant the Raabta Committee courage to serve the nation as much as possible,” the London based chief of the MQM said.

MQM chief in the statement also said that he will now pay special attention on his health as he was suffering from tension due to the party work and receiving the unwelcome news while leading the party.

In his statement he once again apologized for what happened following his speech and reiterated that Pakistan is, and will forever remain his country.

It should be noted that  Dr. Farooq Sattar in a press conference on Tuesday had said the party should now be run from Pakistan and quoting the party constitution that Raabta Committee is empowered to take all decisions.
