Speaking at a press conference, MQM leader Farooq Sattar said that the issuance of a press release has lead to renewed media trial of the MQM since last night. Without directly naming Pakistan Rangers, he said if the report is targeted against the MQM then “we condemn it”.

“We reject the allegations of snatching animal hides and forced receiving of Zakat and Fitr,” Sattar said. “MQM is facing such allegations for past 25 years, but not a single one ever proved.”

He said that the party is being criminalized, while it was also accused that MQM relies upon fake voting, but the result of NA-246 by-election showed how the people expressed their confidence in MQM.

He said: A conspiracy is underway to affect the welfare activities of the party, adding, “Khidmat e Khalq Foundation’s national and international services in the wake of disasters cannot be ignored.”

“Proclaiming the MQM to be responsible for the issues is no solution,” maintained Dr Farooq Sattar. “MQM is not part of the problem; it is rather part of the solution.”

In Karachi, the graph of crimes remained low from 2002 to 2008 and we still say that taking the party into confidence crime can be eliminated from here, added the MQM leader.

We had said the same in 1992 that pushing MQM against the wall was no solution and it was proven that when the party was allowed to carry out activities then the crime rate was lowered considerably, Sattar concluded.
