MQM condemns worker's implication in May 12 case

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) co-ordination committee strongly condemned the arrest of party’s Mehmoodabad sector incharge Rafiq Rajput in May 12 tragedy case, ARY News reported.

In an emergency press conference, MQM leader Amir Khan claimed that Rafiq Rajput has been presented before the general populace of the country as a hardened criminal while Rajput is a peaceful citizen and works in a reputable organization.

Khan lamented that such a respected individual is being presented as an accused in May 12, 2007 tragedy after seven long years.

 The MQM leader claimed that his party has apprised media about the facts and central characters of the tragedy through media adding that MQM rallied for an independent judiciary on the day with children and women.

“If the party had planned any violent activity, will it bring its own women and children on street?”, asked Amir Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, another Rabita Committee member Haider Abbas Rizvi said that the May 12 tragedy was the work of those elements who were scared of MQM’s popularity.

He maintained that the party had released a fact based video with the name of ‘Bitter Truth” regarding the incident and the video can be accessed easily on the internet.

It must be noted that Rangers arrested MQM Mehmoodabad sector Incharge Rafiq Rajput and claimed that the MQM leader has confessed his involvement in the May 12, 2007 tragedy.
