MQM denies using ‘violence’ to gag PTI at Jinnah Ground

KARACHI: Mutahidda Qaumi Movement on Thursday strongly rejected allegations that the MQM resorted to violent approach in disrupting PTI rally at Jinnah Ground today, ARY News reported.

Majority of the MQM activists were barring elements who were trying to disturb peace during arrival of Imran Khan at Jinnah Ground, said Farooq Sattar during a press conference here.

People also witnessed, he said while pointing out at meagre strength of PTI supporters, the arrival of number of people with Imran Khan.

He recalled that PTI rally peacefully reached Jinnah Ground and MQM leaders welcomed them.

He said MQM workers were raising slogans welcoming PTI. No MQM worker was either wielding stick or eggs to target PTI, said Sattar.

He said PTI chief should not have doubted MQM’s graceful intent. He advised PTI to continue coordination with the MQM to promote harmony.

He said some elements were trying to harm peaceful environment.

The return of PTI chief and his wife is not connected to any happening in the NA-246 today, and it was their own decision to go back, he maintained.

Sattar vowed that MQM will peaceful atmosphere so that NA-246 by-polls could be conducted without any problems.
