MQM eyes key Senate post

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has managed to gain the attention of the ruling Nawaz-league and Peoples Party as it can play the role of a game-changer in the election on top Senate seats, ARY News reported.

MQM, which has eight seats in the Senate, gained enough importance for the election of Senate chairman and deputy chairman.

MQM leaders expressed their wish to bring their candidate on one of the two top seats, when a government delegation called on them in Islamabad today.

The delegation comprising of ruling party’s members had hardly left, that another delegation by Peoples Party arrived seeking support to bring a mutual candidate on key Senate post.

On this occasion, MQM leader Farooq Sattar could not hold back and openly expressed his party’s wish to see its candidate on key Senate post.

At this, PPP veteran Raza Rabbani said that the decision of candidates for both the key posts will be made after consultation.
