JI rally, coming via Moosa Colony area towards Liaquatabad, was led by party’s candidate for NA-246 Rashid Naseem. When the rally reached Liquatabad no. 10 near MQM election camp,  the exchange of heated words ensued between workers.

Amid chanting of slogans, both the sides indulged in scuffle, leading to tense situation in the vicinity.

According to JI spokesperson, three  of their workers sustained injuries in the clash. Workers from both the sides used sticks and pelted stones at each other during the clash.

No police contingent was deployed at the spot, which provoked the clash and aerial gunshots were also heard.

Vehicles passing nearby also came under attack of the charged activists.

As the clash intensified, two police mobiles also reached the spot to disperse the protesters and political activists.

MQM, PTI and JI are holding rallies in different areas of NA-246 to woo voters ahead of the by-elections on April 23.
