The MQM lawmakers stood before Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and chanted slogans holding photographs of the deceased party worker.

Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah was present in the Assembly and looked to his party men to resolve the matter.

Durrani said that if the sloganeering does not end, he will have no choice but to adjourn the session. PPP’s Nisar Khuhro also appealed to the protesting MQM lawmakers to take their seats.

A minor scuffle broke out, as PPP members stood from the benches to approach the protesting MQM mebers.

The Speaker said that the MQM members should review their behaviour in the house.

The house proceedings were suspended briefly after consultations between the two parties. The MQM members after resumption of the session attended the proceedings wearing black armbands.

The MQM had earlier called for a shutter-down strike in Karachi to be observed over the killing of the party worker but call off the strike after assurances by the Rangers to probe the murder.
