Godil’s family members have appealed people to pray for his early recovery. Doctors earlier performed angiography on the patient and decided to conduct angioplasty after his blood vessels were diagnosed with a problem.

In August 2015, Godil was attacked by armed men in Bahadurabad area of Karachi  and he had sustained serious bullet wounds. His driver was killed in the attack.

Godil was travelling with his driver and a family member when the attack took place.

After the attack, Godil was shifted to a nearby hospital where his condition was stated as critical owing to excessive loss of blood. He underwent surgery at a private hospital and was later put on ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit.

Fear and panic gripped the city as markets and shops closed down their businesses in different areas after the attack.

He was attacked on the day Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman visited the MQM’s Nine Zero headquarters to convince them to review their decision of resigning from Sindh Assembly and the parliament.
