MQM wants arrest of Imran Farooq’s ‘actual’ murderers: Akhtar

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Waseem Akhtar said on Tuesday that his party too wants arrest of the killers of its former convener Dr. Imran Farooq, ARY News reported.

Expressing his views on ARY News show ‘Off the Record’, MQM leader said that he prays that the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan should take the same kind of interest in Model Town Massacre, Waqas Shah’s killing and murder of MQM members.

About the proposed JIT on Imran Farooq’s murder, Akhtar maintained that the minister should take measures to arrest the actual killers of MQM’s founding member.

He maintained that the alleged facilitator of murderers Moazzam Ali (arrested from Azizabad) does not belong to MQM.

“All sorts of people live in Azizabad, even families belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) live there, if he is arrested from the area what should I and MQM do?”, asked Akhtar.

When asked by Kashif Abbasi about the Scotland Yard letter and the people arrested in connection with the murder, MQM leader said that if the arrested lot is involved in the murder they should be punished.

It must be noted that MQM leader Imran Farooq was killed on September 16, 2010 in London. He was stabbed outside his home in Edgware, London, close to the MQM’s international Headquarters.
