Muharram processions underway amidst tight security

KARACHI: Mourning processions are being taken out across the country to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (R.A) and other martyrs of Karbala, ARY News reports on Saturday.

Countrywide Mehendi mourning processions will be taken out on the eve of 7th Muharram (tonight) to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Qasim (R.A) son of Imam Hassan (R.A). The forces of Yazid also stopped the water to the camp of Imam Hussain (R.A) on 7th of Muharram as well.

Jhoola (baby cot) and mourning processions were taken out on Friday night to mourn the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali Asghar (R.A), the sixth month infant son of Imam Hussain (R.A).

Security measures have been stepped up from today as the convoys of Pakistan Army have started moving into the key districts of Sindh including Karachi and Hyderabad as back up for security.

It should be noted that Sindh Government had issued a warning about likely terror attacks in the province from 7th till 11th Muharram.
