The victim’s father earlier claimed that a mob entered their house late Tuesday night and started beating his daughter named Maria. He added that she was set alight after being doused with petrol and then thrown in the trench.
According to reports, she was burnt alive over rejecting a matrimonial proposal of the school-owner named Master Shaukat. The victim’s father stated that Shaukat was also a part of the mob which ransacked his house and burnt his daughter alive.
The victim was rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment. Nearly entire body of the girl suffered high-intensity burns.
A First Information Report (FIR) of the incident has been filed at Murree Police station.
Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif took notice and formed an investigation committee to probe the committee. The probe team will present its report within 48 hours.
