Mustafa Kamal and Anis Qaimkhani to hold joint press conference today

According to details, both Mustafa Kamal and Anis Qaimkhani will conduct a joint press conference in the city’s Khayaban-e-Seher area today. The press conference will be held at 3 p.m.

Speaking to ARY News exclusively, Mustafa Kamal said Anis Qaimkhani was with him and that both of them were fine. He also said that their impending press conference will create a stir.

“Whatever God has put in our minds, we will announce that,” he said. “Come with me and I will tell you why we are holding the press conference,” he said while talking to a reporter.

The handout which was issued to the media on plain paper regarding the press conference, did not contain any particular party’s reference and it could not be ascertained as to who was the source of it. It could also not be confirmed as to what the agenda of the press conference would be. Both leaders, who had not been in the country, were reported to have arrived late last night at 4 a.m. via an international flight EA-604.

Mustafa Kamal used to be the ex mayor of Karachi from 2005-2010 and was also an integral member of the Muttahid Quami Movement (MQM). He was also elected as a member of the Senate in 2011 till he left the country in mid-August 2013 and went into political obscurity. There were reports earlier that Syed Mustafa Kamal had developed differences with the MQM. After leaving the country, unconfirmed reports stated that he had been employed by a private firm in Dubai.

Anis Qaimkhani is also a member of the MQM who used to be an important member of the Rabita Commitee before he left the country in 2013.

According to ARY News’ correspondent, Anis Qaimkhani and Mustafa Kamal are both still members of the MQM and have still not officially announced leaving the party.

According to senior analyst Dr. Shahid Masood, senior MQM parliamentarians could be seen flanked with Kamal and Qaimkhani during their press conference. He cited sources saying that they would conduct the press conference independently and on their own. According to Dr. Shahid, it is likely that Mustafa Kamal will also speak about the development of Karachi and political matters pertaining to the city.

He also said it was possible the two senior members of MQM would meet with Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad.
