Muzaffargarh: Terror plot on Chehlum foiled, four killed

MUZAFFARGARH: A terrorism plot foiled in Muzaffargarh district of southern Punjab on the eve of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A), ARY News reported on Saturday.

Police killed four terrorists in encounter while three others escaped from the scene, the law enforcement sources said.

According to reports, a police party on an intelligence report conducted raid in an area in the vicinity of Muzaffargarh. The terrorists hiding in a house hurled grenade at policemen. In a subsequent shootout four suspected terrorists were killed and their three accomplices fled from the scene, police said.

Three policemen were also injured in the incident and admitted at a hospital for medical treatment.

Twelve rocket launchers, 40 grenades, 328 kilograms of chemicals, four suicide jackets, a pistol and a rifle and other munitions were captured in the raid.

District Police Officer (DPO) Muzaffargarh has said that the terrorists were affiliated with Abu Abdullah Group of Punjabi Taliban.
