MQM wants ‘foreign observers’ to monitor Karachi by-polls

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Wednesday demanded appointment of ‘foreign observers’ for monitoring the NA-246 Karachi by-polls, ARY News reported.

MQM leader, Nasreen Jalil in her statement demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan to appoint ‘foreign’ observers for monitoring the by-election in NA-246 Karachi due tomorrow.

She stated that MQM in order to ensure free and fair conduct of polls in NA-246 had also called for inviting foreign observers earlier to this.

Jalil said that foreign observers are ready to offer their services for monitoring the by-election.

The much-hyped by-election is scheduled tomorrow. The polling will start at 8am and continue till 5pm.

Polls will be held under the vigilance of Pakistan Rangers and paramilitary troops would be deployed inside and around polling stations in the constituency.
