Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq chaired the session of the lower house in which the government sought extension of the GIDCO by 120 days.
The gas ordinance was to expire on 22nd January 2015.
MNAs from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) tore the copies of the cess ordinance and walked out of the assembly hall as a mark of protest.
The opposition parties stated that the extension in the gas cess ordinance is unjust for the nation.
