The selection of Muhammad Hafeez in the national team came under question during a meeting of the standing committee at the parliament house in Islamabad.

The committee asked PCB to explain why the batsman was selected in the squad for England tour despite being injured and unfit to play for the team.

The members of the parliament committee were of the view that the cricketing board has denied other eligible players’ right to play for the national team by selecting Hafeez.

It should be noted that Hafeez has failed to perform with the bat in the England tour. He also dropped several crucial catches while fielding at the slips in the test series.

He has been ruled out  due to a calf injury and is being replaced by lanky Mohammad Irfan for the rest of the tour.
