NAB arrests ex-Pepco director for ‘exceeding powers’

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Thursday apprehended the former managing director of Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) Tahir Basharat Cheema for ‘exceeding powers’ during his tenure, ARY News reported.

Cheema is accused of making illegal appointments in the Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (Gepco) and exceeding his authority.

He will be presented before an accountability court on Friday (tomorrow) for the sake of remand.

Cheema is also an accused in the rental power project case that involves former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
