Eventually the necklace of the spouse of former Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan (now president) was deposited to the national treasury. The necklace made its way from Multan to Islamabad today and was delivered to Nadra.
The secretary of ex-PM Gillani after visiting various offices reached Nadra office here, wherein he got the receiving of the necklace by the authorities.
Earlier, the PA to former premier visited the Cabinet Division, Foreign Office and the treasury but no one accepted the necklace.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had served a notice to Yousaf Raza Gillani to deposit the necklace, after which he found it better to send it to Islamabad.
The story of this necklace dates back to 2010, when heavy floods inundated various parts of the country and the Turkish First Lady had donated this necklace for a collective marriage of eight couples in Sindh.
But, those for whom the necklace was donated could never receive it and it ended up reaching the then PM.
The FIA had also warned of taking due legal action, if the necklace was not returned.
